    This camp will emphasize individual skills, fundamentals, and team strategy. Areas covered include everything from outfield and infield play to base-running, sliding and much more in this dynamic youth baseball camp.  Our staff will conduct individual and group instruction for all players. Groups rotate throughout the day to different stations covering pitching, catching, infield defense, outfield defense and hitting.

    Richard Pildes and Mark Madden

    Richard Pildes is the Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Taft High School.  Coach Pildes has coached for 37 years, including the last 34 as the head coach at Taft.  Coach Pildes was inducted into the Illinois Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2016.  Among his team's accomplishments are 12 conference championships, six trips to the city playoff semifinals, and runner-up showings in 2010, 2014, and 2016.  The Eagles also won an IHSA regional in 2009 under Coach Pildes' leadership.  


    M. Madden is a professional educator with a Masters in Administration. During his experience in the field of education, he has collaboratively helped numerous city and suburban schools at all levels develop the athletic department in all designated areas stressing improvements in academics, athletics, and strength and conditioning/kinesiology.  Madden has coached boys basketball at Ridgewood and Niles North High School, while coaching baseball at Ridgewood and Walter Payton High School, both as the assistant varsity and sophomore coach. Madden has played baseball at the collegiate level and tried out for the Arizona Diamondbacks on a personal invite. He currently teaches physical education and kinesiology and is proudly the assistant varsity girls basketball coach and assistant varsity boys baseball coach for William Howard Taft High School.

    Kirk Vidas, Brett Nishiybayashi, and Mark Madden

    Coach Kirk Vidas is a 1975 graduate of Gordon Tech H.S. where he played basketball under coaches Dan Chubrillo and Bob Ociepka (1971-75). He continued his education and basketball career at Upper Iowa University where he earned three all conference awards and was named honorable mention all-American his junior year (1978). Coach Vidas continued to play professionally overseas in Athens, Greece, where he played for Panathinakos A.O. (1979-85), winning four Greek league titles and was selected for Greece’s Olympic and National teams (1980-1984). Coach Vidas teaches physical education, health and driver’s education at Taft H.S in Chicago and is currently the head coach of girls basketball at the school. Coach Vidas is  married to Emily, his wife of 20 years, and has three children Nick, George, and Kyra. 

    Coach Brett is graduate of Taft ('97). He played division 1 (Northeastern Illinois) and division 3 (Carthage college) basketball. He has been coaching for 14 years at Taft, completing his 7th season as head coach this past year.

  • Boys/Girls Bowling Camp (Grades 6-12)

    The objective of this developmental camp is to provide an opportunity for all new players to learn the game of bowling and experienced players to grow in their skill set. This is a two path camp one for new bowlers and the other path for the experienced bowler. Basic knowledge and skills will be introduced and instructed through games, drills, and competitions. Safety and fundamentals will be emphasized throughout in order to create a positive experience for players of all abilities. All players are encouraged to bring as much of their own equipment as possible. Our camp staff consists of experienced coaches along with current competitive bowlers.

    Campers who register by June 27th will receive a T shirt.

It will make you a better all-around Volleyball player. Plus you will be getting to meet the Head Varsity Coach, William Angel, and the Sophomore Coach, Allison Taylor, along with Varsity players and Alumni of the program.     Our end-of-summer super fun cheer camp is designed for grades K through 9.  We will pack the morning with fun activities, including learning cheers, dances, stunting, and tumbling.  No experience necessary.  T-shirt and poms included in registration!  All campers will:

    1) Be grouped based on their ages and abilities.

    2) Learn the fundamentals of cheerleading with both individual and group instruction. 

    3) Practice and execute proper technique during all skills performed (stunts, tumbling, dance, jumps, etc.)

    This two day workshop will aid rising seniors in starting their Common Application for college admissions, begin their “Colleges I’m Applying to” list in Naviance, review Personal Statements, and begin the scholarship search process.  Why wait until crunch time, when you can receive individualized help over the summer before the pressures of senior year have set it motion.

  • Junior Eagles Soccer Camp (Boys/Girls Grades 5-8)

    Join the Taft soccer coaching staff for a week of instruction and games. In addition to learning from high school coaches, campers will have the opportunity to be coached by current/former Taft players as well as current/former collegiate players from local colleges.


    Campers will be instructed in individual soccer techniques and tactics, focusing on dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, and defending. Each camper will be placed on a team and apply the individual practice sessions to team games.


    Each camper will receive a t-shirt and camp certificate. Awards will be given throughout the week for both team and individual accomplishments.

     

    All skill levels welcome!


    Campers must register by July 3 to receive a camp T shirt.

He holds a United States Soccer Federation D License and a National Soccer Coaches Association of American  Level 1 Goalkeeper Diploma. He loves all things related to the Eagles and his favorite colors are blue, black, and silver. He loves Arsenal Football Club and likes to read on his free time.

  • Little Eagles Soccer Camp (Boys/Girls Grades 1-4)

    The Taft soccer coaching staff will be holding a camp for boys and girls grades 1 through 4. The camp will be open to all skill levels and will include a week of instruction in technical soccer skills such as dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, and defending. Campers will be put into situations that allow them to learn the “beautiful game” while also meeting new friends and playing soccer related games. Campers will be teamed up with a camp coach and assistant coach for the duration of the week. Campers will each receive a shirt and awards will be given out throughout the week for team and individual accomplishments.

  • Poms Dance Team Camp (Grades 4-9)

    The camp is open to girls and boys grades 4 through 9.  We will focus on developing fundamental skills in all areas of dance.  All attendees  will learn a short poms routine as well as proper technique for leaps, turns, jumps, tricks, and sporting event etiquette.

    Jacquelyn Alunan is a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University and math teacher at Taft High School. This is her 4th year as the Varsity Poms Head Coach.  The Taft High School Poms team won the city championship in 2014, 2015, and were runners-up in 2016.
